WMUFounded in 1888, Woman's Missionary Union is an auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention that seeks to equip adults, youth, children and preschoolers with missions education to become radically involved in the mission of God. Headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., WMU is a nonprofit organization that offers an array of missions resources including conferences, ministry ideas and models, volunteer opportunities, curriculum for age-level organizations, leadership training, books and more.

Urgent Prayer Request
[Friday, September 5, 2008, 3:30 PM] Dr. Dellanna O’Brien, former executive director/treasurer for national WMU in Birmingham, Alabama, suffered a fall at her Texas home on Thursday, September 4, 2008. At the present time, Dr. O’Brien is in ICU in a Texas hospital. Doctors have determined that Dr. O'Brien has suffered a massive stroke, affecting her left side. They have further determined that surgery is not an option at this time. Dr. Bill O’Brien, Dellanna’s husband, says that the next 72 hours are critical for her.

Thank you for praying for Dr. Dellanna O’Brien and her family. Also, pray for her daughter, Erin, and her family, as they travel to Texas.

Each year, thousands of boys and girls give to their Vacation Bible School offering in their local church. This year, many of those churches chose to give their offering to the WMU Foundation to forward to the Ricks Institute in Africa. We are pleased to announce that as of the end of August 2008, we have received $9,944.03 for Ricks Institute!
